Improving incomplete answers in Ask a Clinical Question
Work recorded September 24, 2026.
Retrospective written September 26, 2026; entry dated to the development work. By Conor Early, CRNA, creator of GlottaVue Anesthesia.
The September 24 update addressed a frustrating failure in Ask a Clinical Question: a request could run out of its response budget and return an empty or truncated answer. The work focused on recognizing incomplete output and recovering within the app's time limit.
What changed
The online service now checks that the provider finished the response and can retry an incomplete or transiently failed attempt within a bounded deadline. Follow-up handling was also adjusted so a request to expand an answer stays connected to the original topic.
The change was made in the backend, so this particular fix did not require a new app download. Only complete answers count toward the user allowance under this service behavior.
What we checked
Software checks and live service calls exercised Quick, Deep Dive, source-enabled and follow-up requests. Those checks establish that the tested request paths returned usable responses. They do not establish clinical correctness, guarantee future availability or replace review of individual answers.
If an answer still looks incomplete
Do not infer the missing conclusion or rely on a partial response. Try a more focused question or consult the underlying reference directly. Source-enabled responses are a starting point for checking the evidence, not proof that every statement is supported.
Ask a Clinical Question is optional and online. Keep patient identifiers and other confidential details out of the question and follow-up conversation. The offline reference library remains available separately when connectivity or the online service is unavailable.
