Building a Website for Phebe's Nurse Anesthesia Program in Liberia
Anesthesia Guides & App Updates
By Conor Early, CRNA, creator of GlottaVue Anesthesia.
I have been working on a website draft for the Phebe Nurse Anesthesia Program in Liberia. The first version is now available to view at https://phebeanesthesia.com. It is a proposal for school review, with details still to be confirmed by the program.
A home for program information
The goal is straightforward: give prospective students, faculty and supporters one place to learn about Phebe. The draft brings together a program overview, curriculum information, faculty and collaboration profiles, admissions questions and contact resources in a layout that works on phones as well as computers.
Phebe is based in Suakoko, Bong County, Liberia, at the Phebe-Esther Bacon College of Health Sciences, Lutheran University of Liberia. Its work reflects the importance of locally led nurse anesthesia education.
Highlighting Phebe's progress
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center's Boston-Africa Anesthesia Collaborative overview describes Phebe's transition to a Liberian-owned and led program and reports that its first group of 12 bachelor's degree graduates in nurse anesthesia graduated on April 30, 2024.
The International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists lists Phebe with IFNA Recognition effective May 2024 through May 2029. The website uses that specific designation so readers can distinguish it from degree-awarding authority or other accreditation categories.
School review comes next
The next step is to review the draft with the school, confirm current faculty roles and contact details, and fill in admissions requirements, dates and fees. Those details should come directly from the program before anyone relies on the site for an application decision.
This is an early website project shared through the GlottaVue blog, rather than an announcement of school approval or a formal institutional partnership. My aim is to make the program's work easier to find and understand, with its faculty guiding the final content.
